In a previous article, we looked at how to add a product to your catalogue. Now, let’s go through the steps for adding options to it.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Products in a catalogue can offer multiple customization options to both your staff and your customers, so that each time a customer places an order, the product can be tailored to their preferences.

In this article, we’ll look at how to add options to a product in your catalogue.

1. Log in to the Butler Panel

Sign in to the Butler Panel using your account credentials. If you encounter any difficulties, refer to the login guide available here.

2. Go to the Catalogue

Open the options menu located on the left side of the screen. Then, go to the tab labeled “Catalogue.”

3. Select Category

From the displayed product categories, select the one that contains the product you want to add options to.

4. Select Product

Find the product and click on the second icon () located below its name.

5. Add Option

  • In the window that appears, click the “Add Option” button at the top of the box, below the product name.

  • In the “Name” field, type a descriptive name for the option (e.g., “Sugar,” “Size”).

  • Select the option type:

    • “One option value selectable”: The user can select only one option value (e.g., “Plain,” “Double,” “Medium Well,” “Well Done”).

    • “Multiple option values selectable”: The user can select more than one option value (e.g., for a beverage “Cinnamon,” “Chocolate,” “Milk,” “Syrup”).

Note: In the “Multiple option values selectable” type, you can set a maximum number of selections allowed for that option. This means there will be a limit to how many option values can be added to the product.

For example, in a product like “Make Your Own Waffle,” you can allow up to 3 spreads to be selected out of the 10 available options, as shown below:

Next, you can proceed with adding values for the “Pralines” option by following the steps below.

  • Once you’ve finished adding all the product options and move on to the ordering process, you’ll see that you can select up to 3 pralines for this specific product:

  • Next, click the “Add” button , and you will see your option appear in the window.

6. Add Values to the Option

  • To add values to the option you created, click the “Add Value” button located on the right side of the box.

  • In the window that appears:

    • In the “Name” field, type the name of the value (e.g., “Plain,” “Large”).

    • In the “Extra Price” field, enter the additional charge for this value. If you don’t want an extra charge, enter 0.

  • Optional: Enable Quantity

If you want to give the user the ability to adjust the quantity for this option (e.g., an extra syrup shot with an additional cost of €1), you can set an extra charge per quantity by ticking the “Enable Quantity” box.

    • In the “Unit of Measurement” field, select the unit of measurement (e.g., “pcs,” “ml”).

    • In the “Default Quantity” field, set the initial/minimum quantity of the option.

    • In the “Quantity Step” field, define how much the quantity will increase or decrease with each click of the +/- buttons during ordering.

  • Finally, click the “Add” button. You will see that the value has been successfully added to the option.

  • The option and the value you added will appear as shown below:

Within a product’s options, you can set conditions to make selections more automated and the ordering process even faster.

In the following article, we’ll look at what conditions are, how to set them, and how you can make use of them.
