Why do my customers sometimes need to download the Butler App in order to use the Butler Catalogue?

In this article, we will look at the cases when this happens.

Updated this week

The Butler Application works as an App Clip (Apple technology) and Instant App (Google technology) to provide your customers with a fast and easy browsing experience. These technologies allow a part of the app to load directly on the user’s device without requiring full installation. This way, your customers enjoy instant access to your catalogue without filling their devices with apps they might only use once.

When might customers be asked to download the full app?

1. Rejection of Terms of Use (Android only)

On Android devices, the user can choose whether to use Instant Apps the first time they encounter it. If the customer rejects the terms, their device may require them to download the full app.

However, even if they initially rejected Instant App use, they can re-enable it by following these steps:

  1. Open the Google Play app.

  2. Tap the profile icon at the top right.

  3. Tap Settings, then General, then Google Play Instant.

  4. Enable Upgrade web links.

From then on, they will be able to load Butler instantly!

On iOS, the App Clip always appears because it’s a built-in technology and users cannot disable it.

2. Older Devices

If the customer’s device is very old (before 2017), it may not be compatible with Instant App technology. In that case, they will need to download the full application.

Important:

Cases where downloading the app is required are very rare. The vast majority of modern devices support instant loading of the Butler Application, providing your customers with a seamless experience.
